Las Vegas was on a imploding bonaza back in the 80’s and 90’s and even some in the 2000’s but that suddenly stopped and the last major hotel (not really major) was the Clarion (video below). Is the Riviera next? The historic Riviera closed in May of this year (2015) and was said to be next to be imploded but there is also talk of it being saved, not for it’s former usage but for it’s structure and still turned into convention space. The site will be an expansion to the already huge Las Vegas Convention Center. A Pedestrian bridge will be erected that will connect visitors from the now east side of the Riviera. What other properties could go? How about Hooters? Circus Circus? Slots a Fun? Ellis Island/Super 8? Each of these properties are prime to be imploded if Someone was to make the right offer for the property. The way Vegas is once again on the upswing, it could happen. Even properties like the Motel 6/Best Value inn that sits next to Hooter’s is prime property and is ready to go. And how can the Travelodge stay directly on the Strip without Someone taking that prime spot for a boutique hotel and night club?
