Resort Fees are almost funny all over Vegas. Funny in the same way that getting two speeding tickets is on the same day. It isn’t funny but You have no choice but to laugh.

  • Did You ever look at Circus Circus as a Resort? The word resort just does not describe Circus Circus or many ohter Hotels in Las Vegas. Well, as of August, 2015 the resort fee at Circus Circus is 20 dollars per night. You might see this Hotel sell for 18 dollars per night on a weekday in July but that 18 dollars is really 38 dollars with the resort fee added in. This is happening all over the world not just all over Vegas. But at some point some regulations have to be put in place so that the consumer knows the fee when booking.

Some other laughable resort fees all over Vegas:

Ballys is now 28 dollars, they were the one’s that bragged in their advertising to have no resort fees. They did not charge resort fees all the way up to March 2013. But even though all Caesar’s properties did not charge resort fees it didn’t get them more business than MGM properties that were charging resort fees. So You might say it is mine and Your fault that Caesar’s is getting away with these fees. It did not reduce the number of bookings for the company so in the long run, how could they NOT charge resort fees. Remember, these are Public Companies that have to show profits to share holders.

Paris, Caesar’s Palace, Aria, Bellagio are now 32.48, why 32.48? Because 28 didn’t stop anyone from booking and 32.48 is no different to a customer than 30.00 is so the extra money per night x number of rooms really adds up for a Resort. Just think, the 32.48 for just one room adds up to almost 1000 dollars in a month for the hotel on just one room. If they can get away with it, II guess they should do it. Remember they are answering to stock holders to make as much profit as possible.

  • Days Inn at Wild Wild West is now 7.99 but it includes copies and faxes. It is a resort fee for a hotel that You can almost drive Your car into the room. I am pretty sure that any room that has a vehicle as close to Your bed as the bathroom  cannot be called a resort. And why would someone need copies? Of What? And Who would You send a fax to? I would like to send this fax to 1980, since they are the only ones that still have a fax machine.

Palace Station is still 14.99 but has many nights that the room price is less than 14.99. Something just seems dishonest about charging more for a resort fee than the price of the room.

Silver Sevens is 12.99 but this one is pretty reasonable for this reason: You get a free ride from or back to the airport, that’s worth the 12.99 on it’s own. If You took a taxi from Silver Sevens they would long route You up to the interstate but if You take this shuttle You will be there in just a few minutes and the shuttle driver will not make You sit on the bus for very long.

In conclusion, all resort fees are driven by what the market will allow. When Caesar’s didn’t charge resort fees and most other did, it didn’t get them extra bookings so why not charge resort fees? How much longer will Southwest Airlines let bags fly free? Don’t most People forget about the free bags when they shop for air travel? Most People do not add up all the cost for each hotel or airline when booking so this is how We end up with extra charges that We didn’t used to have. It still takes a little work to get the best deal so take just a few minutes longer to make sure the deal You get is the best.
